If Donald Trump is any indication, more Republican presidential candidates will start to ease into the comfort of louder cacophony.
Chris Christie, the brazen governor of New Jersey, delved into the muddy waters of conservative rubble when he said that teachers unions deserved to be punched in the face.

In speaking with Jake Tapper, the host of CNN’s “State of the Union,” Christie said that the teachers union only cares about money and membership.
“They’re for greater membership, greater benefits, greater pay for their members. And they are the single most destructive force in public education in America. I have been saying that since 2009. I have got the scars to show it. But I’m never going to stop saying it, because they never change their stripes.”
Not sure if that’s how one wants to earn respect by so-called taking on teachers through fisticuffs. But here we are and Christie is leading the charge.
Of course he’s not actually going to put his hands on a teacher or a member of the union, but he’s audacious enough to form himself as a bully that’s doing this for the betterment of students.
What’s mildly interesting about Christie’s comments are that he’s kind-of criticized the other candidates as being flamethrowers. Punching an entire union in the face, or at least saying he would, isn’t necessarily outside of Christie’s realm. But how is this any different than Donald Trump saying that Rosie O’Donnell looks like a truck driver a few years ago?
I guess we can call this silly season as Trump, Christie, and the rest of those cats are lighting fires to see who spots the smoke first. Trump has a dumpster fire going on and Christie just lit his first match.
With the first debate right around the corner, I hope there are enough fire extinguishers and smoke detectors to do something about the mess that will be left on that stage.
